Bar Al Jissah's resort coastline — including the Shangri-La properties — gives a very different feel from central Muscat: private coves, calmer water, and the mountains dropping straight into the sea.

If you're staying at one of the resorts here, a sunset session on or near the property is often the easiest option logistically, and it makes for the kind of relaxed, resort-holiday photos most vacation clients are actually looking for.

This is also the best of the four locations for families with young children or larger groups, since there's more space and softer sand than the rockier city beaches.
